Tracks
3:40 P.M.
27 F, Snowing, SE wind 15 mph.
Just back from my walk in the woods. The wind is really blowing and we have about 4" of snow on the ground. Went to the van through the woods and back on the driveway. I must have kicked up a deer when going through the woods as there were fresh tracks (still steaming) heading away from where I was walking. There is a big old pine tree there and I suspect it was bedded down under it.
The weather folks just issued a new weather advisory a few minutes ago - after dropping the previous ones. This one calls for snow and rain mix. That they can keep. Don't want no part of that! Also talked of up to 6" total of snow before midnight. I won't go out to measure it at that time. Will take their word for it.
There is water starting to form on top of the ice in both the upper and lower swamps. Not a good thing. It will make for some soupy walking in the woods later, unless we get some really cold weather. Might be time for the knee boots again. Would not be too bad of weather to be cutting trees down in - if the wind died or came from a different direction.
Oh yes, the trip to the van was a wild goose chase - what Margriet wanted - wasn't there!
Back to Christmas letters!
