Good afternoon,

Wow, summer feels like it is here. It the hottest I think it has been this year! The humidity is also up very high. Not too sure if this old body is ready for this yet. Suppose the bugs will start to come too. The weatherman is talking of the possibility of rain tonight and for sure tomorrow morning at least. Looking at the fields while driving yesterday and the farmers planting, we sure can use it. Fire warnings continue to be up for the northern tear of counties and Upper Michigan. Their was a controlled burn, I think by the Michigan DNR, that got out of control near Baragra, about 60 miles north of us up nort’.
We had a funeral at church today, so that took all of our morning. Harold left behind a widow, Pearl, who has the experience of burying her second husband in 10 years or so. Can’t imagine what Pearl is going through. We had good food and a lot of folks helping to serve. A couple of the folks helping and bringing food were confused by the earlier than normal start time, so came with food about halfway through the meal. It still got served and was good. We enjoyed.

All of the folks working for the funeral wanted to know exactly where it was we were moving too. I could not remember the numbers of the address, only the street name. Most had no idea where Crystal Falls was either. Went to the van to get a map, only to discover that they all were in the house in our traveling folder. I did get the church secretary to pull up a map from the computer to show them, but it didn’t have Kewaunee on it so they still had no idea where it was. All are sad to see us leave and very complementary about our stay here. Some embarrassed about that. Not a good one to take complements.

Bringing in the new truck yesterday, the last part of the driveway had some overhanging branches lower than the new truck is tall. Had to trim a few of them back. Now nothing should hit the truck. There really weren’t any big branches, but still don’t want them to hit the truck.

Hope today to get some convex spot mirrors on the outside rearview mirrors. Hopefully I will be able to see where the rear wheels are going as well as traffic in the blind spots on either side. Found I kept looking in the inside rearview mirror a lot (as you are supposed to) on the drive back yesterday. Only problem is there isn’t a mirror there and if there were all I would see is white bulkhead. Also discovered that I miss the electric door locks and have to lock each door separately! The cab is too wide to reach across, so it becomes an outside job. The rear doors have a lock in each handle, but there are no keys for them! Will have to either find new lock sets or make another kind of arrangement. I also want to put in some tie-owns, but really don’t want to fasten to the sandwich wall panels. Have to work on that some and puzzle it out. I think I will be able to squeeze my tool box behind the driver’s seat and maybe a small bin behind the passenger seat for necessaries. We did pick up a plastic tote box and put it between the front seats for someplace to put things we use while driving and a "table" to set things on. It can be easily moved to gain access to the back. Will not spend too much time or money on the deal, as we expect to sell it again relatively soon.

I hope to get most of what needs to be done on the truck finished today. Then I can load it and we will be ready for our ride up nort’ on Thursday. We will pack some of the essentials to stay there and start the emptying of the storage unit too. I do intend to take a bunch of my tools up, but will probably be bringing some of them back again to use here while we are here. Ain’t gonna’ buy two sets for sure. Of course I expect that what I need most will be at the other place!
The best piece of news is that we have a buyer for this place, at our selling price, and in no hurry for taking possession. That is a good feeling! If not, there are a couple of other folks who also have expressed interest in buying it too. There are a lot of things falling into place on this at the moment. That defiantly is a relief for these old folks. Really glad we don’t have a time line to meet or beat. We can do thing hopefully right.

We got a picture from our oldest Grandson, Bram, a day or so ago. He had to show off his new bicycle he had gotten the day before, I think. It sure do look a bunch more fancy than anything I ever had. Anywho, he is rather proud of it.
Time to get a-going.

In Christ My Saviour,

Chris <><
