Blowing it
11/19/05 5:15 A.M.
36 F, Cloudy, SSW wind 9 mph.
What kind of weather is this for deer hunting? It is warmer this morning than when I went to bed last night! I checked the weather for deer camp this morning, and it is about the same there. According to the radar yesterday, they did get some light snow and it was a bit cooler than here, but the temperature is supposed to be up in the 40's and some rain expected! Bet the woods are a mess, but pretty quiet. Kind of reminds me of one year when it got up to 64 F with heavy rain on Monday and dropped to -7 F. That night. One day we were looking for red jogging shorts and the next wearing almost everything we brought along to stay warm. I hope they get some good hunting weather, rather than feel like they are in the tropics.
Margriet spent a very busy day yesterday baking cookies. She got about 150 sourdough Ghost Town cookies ready to go to Grace Lutheran Church in Long Beach, Mississippi. We also have a block of coffee ( vacuum packed ) to put into the box too. Probably will get it to UPS on Monday. Hope they will enjoy them.
Since she worked so hard all day, I took her out for fish last night. We went to Slovan for their trout boil. As usual it was good. Margriet had it too and the serving gal really filled up her plate. Must have been good, because she emptied her plate. I was surprised by the few folks who were there. By the time we left, there were a bunch more, but usually for the opening day of deer season the next day, many of the city dudes go there for Friday Fish Fry. The group that did come in before we left were mainly young families with little kids.
I spent most of my day taking apart and reassembling differently an small ceramic space heater someone had brought into the hardware store when I worked there for repair. I could not be repaired so I took it out of the trash to salvage the fan from it. I had taken the fan out several years ago and have used it for moving air around since. Now I took the case, rather well built of metal, and removed the no longer working heating elements. The fan is not back in the case, but backwards, blowing the opposite direction. There was a perforated metal screen to protect the heating elements. Now it keep the grasshoppers out of the fan. In stead of sitting on a horizontal surface, it will be hung from the wall, blowing air through the wall furnace. I will hang it from some parts of and old metal display, also salvaged from the store. As Dad used to say,"Making something from nothing."
Need to get some firewood cut today, so better get the day a-going.
