Winter Practice

12/17/05 5:30 A.M.
16 F, Cloudy, W wind 10 mph.

Good morning,

Looks like we are in a cooling trend for a few days. Then warm and snow again. Seems like winter is practicing in short bursts before it comes to stay. My bones are telling me there is some change in the air. Just a dusting of snow yesterday.

Finally we have all of the packages wrapped. All 7 of them. Thursday evening we ran out of Scotch tape and ran to the store to get more. Last night we almost ran out of the wide packaging tape. Think there might be about two feet left on the roll. Calling it too close. We will take them to the post office this morning and send them on their way. A couple will probably arrive a bit late, but that just makes the season longer.

We will have to go out in the woods one of these days soon and find an appropriate Christmas tree for in here. We probably will get a little one again and set it on a table or some such. If we can find a very narrow and tall one, we will take that too. I will let the choosing to Margriet and I will do the cutting and hauling. I can see Pim and Bram "helping" with the task.

Howard and Marsha made it back, but later than planned. After calling here and hearing there was a lot of snow and the roads not the best, they decided to stay in Milwaukee for the night. The word had not gotten out to folks here, so a bunch of us were rather concerned about them. Their middle daughter is graduating from college in Milwaukee today, so they will be driving down again today. Sounds like the other two girls are coming in from Columbus, Ohio and Washington D. C. For the event too. One of the girls will be staying for Christmas as she is on vacation from college. Not too sure about the other as she is a working woman now.

We did have a chance to chat with Howard Thursday at church. He was excited to have his girls home again. Marsha is also the executer of her Dad's estate, so he is some concerned about that. He also had several comments about the proceedings and Marsha's Dad's life and what he left behind. Marsha is expecting to make several trips to Kansas in the near future. Sounds expensive - in travel expense and lost wages at work. Part of life though.

Tomorrow is the kids Christmas program at church. Always a good service. It also brings back a lot of good memories of my three in their programs too many years ago. Hope they enjoy their children's programs and this season as much as I did. We will spend a rather quiet time here in the woods, celebrating with God's creatures. Hope it is a pretty couple of days. We should have no problem with a white Christmas this year.

Time to get the day a-going.

In Christ My Saviour,

Chris <><
