Brisk!

Good morning,
Cooler outside it is. Looks like we are in a period of temperatures being lower than normal (actually about half of the normal temperature). It seems we are on a roller-coaster - so long considerably above normal, then so long considerably below normal temperatures. Not nice.
We had light snow most of the day yesterday. Didn't end at noon as predicted. When it was all said and done, we got a couple of inches of very light snow. Really pretty in the woods, until the wind came up during the afternoon and blew all of the snow in the branches off. When I went out to get a couple of tools last night, there were deer tracks that came right up to the end of the ramp then off too the outhouse, walking along side of it before heading north into the woods again. Would have been really neat to see the deer still in the tracks as they were made. Judging by the size of the foot prints, the deer was rather small. Probably a yearling from this year's crop.
The real highlight of the day was Margriet and Brenda instant messaging for about a half hour. In the process, we got a picture of the new little squirt, with a happy Ma and Pa. The little squirt is also getting to be a bigger squirt. Very healthy looking. Ma and Pa don't look too bad either. Sounds like things are fine, except for lots of soggy snow and the associated weather. We really do enjoy and look forward to the kids using the instant messaging or the phone. Last week we had a chance to chat with Astrid and Pim. Really makes our week to be sure.
I noticed in our paper the other day, that in 1915 a local man received a train car load of new Studebaker automobiles for sale in his establishment - two 4-cylinder and one 6-cylinder models! The train cars were smaller then and no double/triple deckers either! I suspect that 3 automobiles was a huge order back then. Things are a bit different now.
While fooling around on the web yesterday, I ran across a neat website: http://www.castles.nl/ . Since visiting a couple of castles while in the Netherlands, they have really peaked my interest. This is a listing of many castles in the Netherlands. I didn't know there were that many there! A number of them are still being used for residences or businesses, while some are being used as museums, and others are pretty well gone, but for a pile of stone here and there. The mechanics of building and designing them really is amazing, considering the technology they didn't have when they were built. Sure glad I didn't need to build one, even today.
Going to Algoma this morning so Margriet can get her hair cut. Has been awhile. Every time we have tried to go, things of one sort or another have gotten in the way. I have been threatening to do it for her, but she has not been that desperate yet!
Time to get things going for the day. Dutch eggs for breakfast.
